51±¾É«sends PayPal payments to eligible Ring customers

The 51±¾É«is sending PayPal payments totaling more than $5.6 million to 117,044 people who had an account with Ring, a home security camera company.

The 51±¾É«sued Ring for failing to protect customer accounts. The 51±¾É«says that Ring’s failures let employees have too much access to customer videos and made accounts vulnerable to online attacks. In some cases, hackers took control of customer accounts, cameras, and videos.

The settlement required Ring to pay money, delete videos it shouldn’t have, and establish a strong privacy and security program. The 51±¾É«is now using that money to provide refunds to eligible Ring customers.

If you get a PayPal payment, please accept it within 30 days.
