Servicemembers, like all consumers, are potential targets for fraudsters. That said, certain scams are more likely to target the military community, in part because military families may relocate frequently and many servicemembers 鈥 for the first time 鈥 are living on their own and earning a paycheck. Moreover, frauds against military consumers can undermine military readiness and troop morale. The Commission鈥檚 efforts to eliminate such scams through aggressive enforcement and a vigorous, ongoing educational campaign are an important part of our consumer protection work.
